The Center for Dynamic Economics (CEDEC) is an umbrella group of Washington University macroeconomics faculty, located on the third floor of Seigle Hall. CEDEC supports theoretical, empirical and policy-oriented research by campus and visiting faculty on a wide range of macroeconomic issues in which forward-looking behavior is an essential element. Among these are growth, development and poverty; capital mobility, technology and trade; financial markets, banks and asset prices; labor and unemployment; wealth and income distribution; money and credit; monetary and fiscal policy; and many others.
CEDEC activities aim to promote collaboration in economics between this campus and other centers of research excellence. Current activities focus on a yearlong Seminar on Dynamic Economics, and a developing collaboration with the Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of St.Louis. The seminar invites each year about fifteen outside researchers to stay on campus for one or two weeks, engage resident faculty and students on a regular basis, and lecture about their research agenda. Ties with the St. Louis Federal Reserve grow through joint scientific projects, co-ordinated seminars, and weekly cross-town visits that and link the Fed with CEDEC.
